Bhagyaraj’s Mundhanai Mudichu is one of the iconic Tamil films of all times the film which starred Bhagyaraj and Urvashi is known for it’s humour and screenplay. The film which released in 1983 was a runaway hit. The film ran for 25 weeks in theatres and earned Bhagyaraj the filmfare award for best actor in Tamil even as Urvashi made a stunning debut as an actor. The film was remade in Kannada , Hindi and Telugu and was a trendsetter of it’s times. A sequel to Mundhanai Mudichu was planned in 2017 starring Lollu Sabha Jeeva and Rashmi Gautham but the film never took off.
Now the 1983 film gets an official remake after 37 years with Sasikumar and Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead role. Story screenplay and dialogue for the remake will be handled by Bhagyaraj himself. The film is produced by JSB film studios. Will this new pair repeat the magic of the original. Let’s wait and watch.
