It takes a lot of guts to talk about the sufferings of the oppressed class in a way that it connects with the audience and makes them. Pariyerum Perumal did just that without any compromises. It showed things as it is without hiding anything. I see the film as a tale of three different characters.
There’s Perumal as the representation of the oppressed class. He is the one who undergoes all the sufferings because of discrimination. He fights back not for himself but for people like him. That for me is a win.
Then there’s an Anand. An ally from the opposite side. Without people like Anand it is difficult to make progress. Only if there are friends from the other side we can move forward.
Then there are people like Jo who do not understand or see the world like us. It is upto us to make them see what they haven’t seen and walk with them.
All 3 of them live among us in our society. And we have the choice to travel with them and change things around us.
