Eilish never fails to leave a lasting impression when it comes to music. After deep emotional tie of back to back releases, “No Time To Die” and “my future”, she finally released a fun and not serious song along with an official music video, “Therefore I Am” through Dark room and Interscope Records on November 12th, 2020.
The five-time Grammy award winner said she produced this music during the pandemic break. The song’s lyrics are said to be meant about an enigma man, where she is sending a clear message by singing, “Damn, you think that you’re the man,” and by also quoting the French philosopher René Descartes: “I think therefore I am.”
But when Zane Lowe of Apple Music asked about the true meaning of “Therefore I Am,” she said she wants fans to interpret the song’s meaning for themselves.
“You know, this song is very, very up for interpretation,” she says. “I’m very curious to see what people get from it and also what they feel when they hear it. I don’t know. But yeah, it’s a little mean. I love it.”
The official video was directed by this 18- year old artist and it was shot on an iPhone overnight and you can see her running around uninhabited Glendale Galleria shopping mall in California, a familiar spot for Billie where she spent her early teens shopping. You can also see her stealing snacks like a drink, pretzel, donuts, fries and chipotle chips from the stores.
