Just few more days left for the most celebrated league (IPL)in the World which is back to its Indian Soil after an year with so much of Pandamic Restriction in these situation .Almost every Franchise Team had their core Team settled up in hotel for quarantine and few started their practice session in the Nets as well. Officially, No crowds will be allowed in the early stages of the tournament due to Covid-19.
Every Year BCCI will create a new rules for IPL to avoid the controversies in the Tournament like previously they introduced No Ball call will be given by Third Umpire with Alarm Signal in the Match . Later, the same rule was reflected in the International matches.Likewise , there are some three new rules redesigned for this IPL 2021 which will be effective from this April mostly to avoid the controversies , especially the umpire’s decision . Lets see the rules below
Rule 1: OverRate Rule
OverRate rule means the bowling Team must complete their 20 overs quota within 90Minutes including the 5 minutes Time-out , previously the rule was the bowling Team must start their 20th over within the 90th Minute, mostly the bowling team will pause the last over to break the rhythm of the batsman . To avoid these , BCCI implemented this overrate rule , means overrate must be 14.11 per hour . If any IPL Team has high overrate , that particular Team will be fined .Suppose , If Batsman waste the time in the match , then fourth umpire will give one warning to the particular batsman ,if he does second time the same amount of time will be reduced for their bowling Innings .
Rule 2: No More Soft Signal
In recent T20 series against England , there were many controversies regarding the soft signal of the Umpire’s decision Recently, for example(David Malan’s Catch for SuryaKumar’s wicket). Usually, if third umpire did not get the conclusive evidence , they will go the onfield umpire’s soft signal . But now , even if the Soft signal is out and if third umpire consider that particular decision need to be reversed. He has the power to reverse the on-field decision , only if Umpire /Team ask DRS to Third Umpire in Match.
Rule 3: Short Run OverRule
In previous year IPL 2020, in the early stages of the Tournament there was a wrong decision made by umpire’s Short Run in the match played between Punjab and Delhi which costed the play off chance for Punjab in IPL 2020. After that Punjab kings owner made a official complain against the umpire’s decision , though the Run was clear the third umpire cannot able to reverse the onfield decsion on that day.But , in this new rule even if onfield umpire says one run short and third umpire thinks that Batsman crossed the line without any short run , Third umpire has the rights to reverse the onfield Decision made by the umpire within the next ball.
