How To Deal With Suicidal Thoughts

Do you remember last year? While Sushanth Singh Rajput committed suicide, the social media handles were blotting with messages blowing up advice to ones suffering from mental tribulations to consider seeking help. Few were trying to advise and reason it by voicing out that suicide is not the only option, by eventually failing to understand the amount of trauma and mental distress that one faces with shame, guilt and heightened agitation of anxiety.

Initially, the mild negative emotions felt turns into high intensities through serious consequences by leading to suicide attempts. In the process of low to high negative emotion, it eventually juggles into the road of ‘Self-destruction’.

Have you ever felt trapped or experienced an intolerable emotional pain that made you consider suicide? I know, it is very hard for you to be lost in thoughts of dying or death. As a consequence, nobody can deny the fact that everybody goes through different psychodynamic situations that can trigger us to punish or entangle ourselves to self-destruct because of mental discomfort.

Ultimately, it is hard to understand the complex emotions of individuals. This torment and despair can urge anyone to self-harm. Alongside, not necessarily one has to deal with any mental health diagnosis for self-harm and age is never a factor.

To release the distress of emotions, have you ever tried to distract yourself by choosing to sleep or watching the choice of your movie to flee the fear by escaping reality. But not all of us are capable to do that. Some of us wouldn’t be able to control the urge of self-harming.

Due to a history of physical, emotional, social and sexual abuse, a significant amount of people consider self-mutilation (self-harming). And it is not very easy for anyone to do so both consciously or unconsciously. It takes a lot of pain in courage to put oneself in rough phases like these. It is fine to feel the urge.

The most common would be cutting the wrists or scratching the body with sharp objects. This shows the invisible cry for help of an individual who non-verbally exerts on himself indicating helplessness. Likewise, movies like Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh and Adithya Verma characterize self-destructive behaviour through the consumption of alcohol. Even though the movie brings out to show toxic masculinity, it clearly shows the suffering of an individual in emotional distress.

With this, other activities can include burning, trichotillomania (hair-pulling), headbanging, substance abuse, binge eating, starving etc. To control and flee from this fling to avoid an uncomfortable mental state through distractions, it is necessary to take actions. Because you matter and so does your life.

It is very important to talk. By talking to someone, you can understand the origin of suicidal thoughts. Right now, if you are reading this here, just know you will get through this and this too shall pass. Also, try getting a therapy that can help you with the prevalence and seriousness of symptoms to get through anger and stress management.
