In this article, we will preview the match between the two teams to seal the top position in the points table , RCB is in third place whereas CSK, DC were in the first two place , NRR is the only difference among these teams. In this cluster caravan model, this is the second game that will be played in Ahmedabad .Both teams have few players opted out due to personal reasons due to covid-19.
Head to Head:
Between these two teams 26 matches played , from that RCB leading the victory count by winning 15 matches and on other hand Delhi Capitals won 10 games with one no result.
Total : 26 RCB : 15 DC :10 NR:1
Both the teams have faced only one loss in their previous encounter and by this end of this match ,one of these will have the second loss in their points table. Since it’s a fresh wicket for the team, both teams will face the new conditions especially after the KKR vs Punjab kings game , the dew will be a very big factor in these kinds of pitches . So Teams would prefer to bowl first after winning the toss .
Royal Challengers Bangalore, were coming from the first loss in this edition against CSK and would like to start fresh from this match against DC . From RCB, two Australian players Ada, Zampa and Kane Richarson opted out from this IPL due to personal reasons . In these kinds of tracks , Zampa contributions will be effective for RCB with the current form of RCB spinners (chahal and Sundar), they were in a need of effective spinner to balance the playing XI but somehow they have a Indian spinner Shahbaz ahmed, a left arm spinner who was impressive in chepauk pitches and team would bring him to no:3 position in the batting order .
Delhi Capitals, were coming from the winning streak especially the win against SRH in super over will boost the confidence on the Team . Also , their only loss against RR was also a close encounter , so they were in a comfortable position in this edition with their victories.Since, Ravi Ashwin opted out of this IPL , with his personal reasons they have a bunch of spinners on their squad to fulfill his place . Axar patel , recent form after his covid will give confidence for him ,his bowling will lead the spin attack with absence of Ashwin .Both openers Dhawan and Shaw were showing their excellence in this IPL . If RCB failed to take wickets in powerplay , both these openers will take the control of the game.
Expected Playing XI changes :
Since, Ahmedamad is a fresh wicket and the match will not be played in same pitches played between Punjab and KKR we cannot surely convey the conditions, but it will favour the team with a stronger batting lineup which we witnessed in a five match T20 series between India and England.
RCB , might prefer to change one spinner in place of Navdeep Saini in the squad and the other would be Australian bowler Daniel Sams in place of Daniel Christian to strengthen the bowling and batting , since he has the ability to bowl both in powerplay and end overs.
From Delhi Capitals, it will be a forced change in place of R Ashwin. They will bring Lalit yadav who was good with both bat and ball to replace the void of Ashwin in the playing XI. Then, Anrich Nortje in place of overeas top -order batsman Smith which brings more balance to the team combination especially in these kind of bouncy tracks in Ahmedabad Nortje will be effective with his pace and bounce , since Lalit yadav has the ability to bat up the order if team is in situation of early wickets. So , there are possibilities we might see the deadly pace combination of Nortje and Rabada in the Delhi capitals.Personally, I would like to see Sam Billings inplace of Hetmeyer in the playing XI, since Hetmeyer was not in great touch with the bat in his two matches and most of their batting was utilised by the top order bringing Sam would open the option of No:3 for him so if early wicket falls he will anchor the innings for the Team .Team should look for the resource to fill the gap in these kind of big games which will be helpful in knock out matches in IPL.
Players to Watch Out:
Prithvi Shaw, was in his prime form especially after the man of the match performance in chepauk , he would like to continue the same in this match too, we already saw the battle between Kyle Jamieson and Shaw in the Newzealand series, this tall bowler will definitely be a threat for him and with his current form with the bat and the conditions also favours a bit for batsman , Shaw might outplay the RCB bowlers in Ahmedabad.
AB De Villiers, got out of the turn in his previous matches and his battle against left arm spin and leg spin still exists ,also on the other they have three variations of spinnes like Axar , Mishra and lalit , it will be an exciting contest for the Team . Rishabh pant will use these spinners effectively against AB in this match , but let’s see who will have the last laugh in this match.
