Wow. Thank you for showing up on my Timeline! I feel happy to have you read my article. Let’s not ruin our weekend by thinking about a bad week. Let it go! Also, anyone got that Friday feeling?! I’m so excited about my weekend plans. For the past two weeks, I have been running in circles with my academic life. So I can’t wait to sit back and relax with podcasts and books. Also, please comment below, your plans for the weekend!
“Change Nothing And Nothing Changes.”
Last month, I had a small conversation with one of my friends. After a long time, I was so excited to hear from her. She shared with me her decision to change her eating habits and daily routines. I believe tugging at your heartstrings to groove on a healthy mode of living is a pledge of determination.
A few days back, I decided to check up on her. And for some reason, my curiosity grew. I was hanging on my hat to have contacted by her again. If you are probing on – what I had to do with her? I was inspective to understand changes. I wanted to explore her feeling of flip-flops in the course of action to a healthy way of practising living, so that I can learn something.
Guess what? She sounded disappointed. If you can tap into the adversity of the situation, welcome you are on the place. I genuinely asked her, what happened? She explained to me about her enthusiasm for the changes that inspired her for a week. And as days passed by, it brought her back to the previous habits. She used sarcasm over her rendered powerless and carried it off like a helpless situation. But do you think so?
Last night the word change lingered longer over my headspace. We have seen people asking to us change certain habits, manners or morals. But it is so difficult. We believe it is easy. An overnight happening, my friend who I mentioned earlier falls into the same category. Also, we belong there too! Now you might wonder, why did I include you here?
We decided and accepted ourselves to change something. It could be deciding on your internet curfew to fix your sleep cycle. And planning for a morning workout to burn your fat? I am not going to lie – At least once a day, I wanted to practice having a peaceful meal alone to enjoy the food. But I have been stumbling upon many things. I failed to do it.
Change is a process, not an event. We cannot become what we want by remaining what we are. By focusing on the energy flow, it is evident that we are battling with the old believes, such a contention is not maintainable. Instead, we need to redirect that energy to build on a new system, by willingly plugging into it and moving along with it and enjoying the process.
To brief the above lines to bring changes with respect to anything, enabling on fixing old patterns of habits doesn’t seem to work well. Instead, we can occupy our thoughts on constructing and structuring new embellishments.
To proceed with designing your convection of changes, you need to make amends. You will have to give up on something to gain something. On par with – you need to spend money if you want something. Similarly, if you need to change your sleep cycle, you should give up on your Netflix and prime series. And if you decide on reducing your weight, you should cut your junk.
While you are working on your changes, you will face uncomfortableness – the pain and pressure. By practising and living it every day your energy of discomfort will get converted to consistency and confidence as you can see changes.
You will meet a force that will tempt you to go back to your old phase. The struggle is real. Remember, no struggle, no progress.
“Whatever makes you uncomfortable is your biggest for the growth” – Bryant McGill (Human potential thought leader, international bestselling author, activist, and social entrepreneur)
When you spot an unpleasant feeling consider it as an opportunity and progress. Keep going ahead by noticing and celebrating the small backfires. Recognize what you can control and what you can’t to determine your results. By paying attention to your outcome learn to make a decision today by prioritizing what you want to change.
Be easy and enjoy the changes. Let’s try doing simple changes like:
- Do not hit snooze on your alarm.
- Do 90 mins of deep work.
- Exercise for 30 mins.
- Eat healthy foods.
Include this schedule to work on. Have a belief you can do it. You have the willpower within you to do this. Let’s be determined, focused and committed to being working on changes. Remember what you have to gain will always outshine what you have to lose. So go ahead! All the best for your changes!
