IT Jobs Feel Chronically Exhausting Leading To Burnout: Here Is Something You Should Know

I’m composing the article keeping in mind the psychological hurdles and challenges that an individual sets off to suffer by engaging themselves in the occupation of Information Technology. 

I have been speculating on my brother’s level of stress for many years now. It’s been years since he started working in that field. And that hooked me up with many questions in my head. Consider your close friend circles and family nominally one in five will be employed in IT.  And have you ever had conversations related to their work? If yes, did they sound happy?

The majority of the population feel stuck at work. A few months back, I had a small project assigned to me by the college. I had to collect data on motivational levels of working individuals aged between 20-30 years.

I interviewed almost fifteen individuals working in information science companies. To my surprise, few clearly stated their interest in the job is money.

While some undeniably explained the feeling of overwhelming that they experience due to more work pressure. At the same time, I could observe the transparent emotions of scepticism, anger or irritability over everything. Furthermore, it transiently summarises the level of advancement on negative emotions after working hours.

Now that indicates the signs of burnout.

 In India, families of those individuals working in the Information Technology sectors commentate on it as a badge of honour. But the struggle of that job-holding is real.

Around the globe, everybody glorifies the position of the job and brink of money by knocking down the factor of well-being. It shows the impertinence to one’s life of disintegration.

By glamorising and modernising working in multistory buildings, we have forgotten to gawk at the absence of sleep, good diet, exercise, relaxation and quality time with friends and family.

Right away, pick up your phone and make a call to someone you know who is working in the IT sector.

Check on their contentment of work.

By simply asking them to explain their exhaustion on physical and psychological brisk after prolonged work hours or repeated stress through overworking?

The Human resource sector in every company is not just assigned only to recruit people. But it is their responsibility to look into the mental well-being of their employees. 

I don’t know, if I should be angry or sad, most of them don’t have regular meetings with the HRs to discuss their setbacks to make it easy.

Now, if you are meddling on what exactly burnout is? Some of you might be going through this and not recognise it. And that’s a sad reality of this generation. Today we have so many contents outside that gives the limelight on snappy subjects.

The World Health Organization (WHO) terms burnout as a syndrome and occupational phenomenon. One is said to be suffering from burnout if they can characterise with the following:

During working hours, if you feel emptiness, fatigue and dejection, as a result, it directly or indirectly affects your focus on the job, you are experiencing burned out symptoms. Considering that, it proportionally decreases your professional efficacy.

If you are feeling saddled due to more work pressure, allow yourself to feel each emotion. Sometimes you might feel like you can’t breathe. During these high times, you should be conversant with few techniques to pull yourself.

Let’s learn something interesting in your computer language. Every time you come across a hindrance while you’re working, remember these three keys. Promise me, whenever you use these keys, you will remind yourself of the below things. Cltr+Alt+Del

Control your thoughts, Alter your thinking pattern and Delete negativity.

If you are working in a big organization, you are bound to meet many people. Few will inspire you. Some will drain you. Pay attention to what you’re feeling. Don’t allow your mind to play tricks on you. It doesn’t spark joy in you to stop overthinking and worrying about unnecessary things.

Catch yourself from falling into negative thought patterns, please turn your focus to breathing at those crucial hours. Those few seconds of conscious breathing will help you reduce stress and increase calm and focus.

And you need to understand that relaxing is a responsibility. Take time to rest and recover. You don’t always have to be busy by pushing yourself so hard. Step back and take care of yourself.

Those moments of self-care will add value, energy, purpose and creativity to everything you do. So find a healthy balanced life.

Live life at your pace, focus on your journey. I read a beautiful quote this morning, “Strength lies not in never breaking but in picking up the pieces and starting again no matter what. Even if it takes you a moment, get up one more time than you fall.”

Normally, spend your weekends permitting yourself to recognize those things that aren’t serving you. By allowing yourself to do this, you are concentrating on being positive, hopeful, joyful, encouraging and empowering with your emotional strength.

Also, make sure to ask yourself at the end of your day:

How were you challenged today?

Who did you connect with today?

What inspired you today and why?

What drained you today and why?

What made you angry today?

What are you looking forward to tomorrow?

How will you face the same consequences differently?

By practicing this you are becoming “Someone who figures that taking a step backward after taking a step forward is not a disaster, it’s more like a cha -cha.” I love this definition of optimist from Robert Brault (Author).

It’s not always about moving forward, but stepping back to see a clear picture to see how to improve yourself as a whole.
